The Maine Aeronautics Association and the Town of Wiscasset was proud to bring the story of the Tuskegee Airmen to the Wiscasset Airport on August 20, 2016.
The Commemorative Air Force RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit
featuring the P-51 Red Tail Mustang
This traveling exhibit is all about the inspiring story of the famed Tuskegee Airman of WWII. The story of America’s first black fighter squadron is an inspirational one especially for our young people of today. It is an example of how they too can reach beyond their grasp to attain new levels of achievement and “Rise Above” to triumph over adversity.
NOW MORE THAN EVER… Of the 20,000 men who were part of the “Tuskegee Experiment” 600 are alive today. By the time you read this these numbers have dwindled. Please help us bring this extraordinary program to your community, and be part of something special.
“Put yourself in the cockpit and soar above the clouds in your own P-51C Mustang as you step inside a traveling immersion exhibit featuring the original film, RISE ABOVE, on a 160-degree panoramic screen in a 30-seat temperature-controlled movie theater. The RISE ABOVE Traveling Exhibit highlights the courage and determination of the Tuskegee Airmen, who overcame obstacles to train and fight as U.S. Army Air Corps pilots, and what it means to us 60 years later.
The development of the exhibit was sponsored by the Texas Flying Legends Museum based in Houston, TX. Like the CAF Red Tail Squadron, the Texas Flying Legends Museum uses aviation and history as educational tools.”
